Barge

Barge is one of many ways of delivering oil in the midstream industry. It is similar to oil tankers, only smaller and can’t move on its own. They usually operate on rivers and canals, carrying thousands of oil barrels

Transporting crude oil to refinery and delivering end-products to the market is crucial for oil industry. One means of this transport is by using barges. A barge is a flat-bottomed ship commonly used in river and canal transport of heavy goods. Barges can carry a lot of oil barrels with price up to 35% cheaper compared to rail transport and pipeline. But the drawback is that it is not self-propelled and usually needs to be towed by tugs. Therefore barge transport is suitable for short-distance delivery of oil
